- His real name is William Sydney Porter.
- Born in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1862.
- Died in 1910.
- He was accused of embezziling money and was sent to prison for five years.
- While in prison he started writing short stories to support his daughter Margret.
- In 1901 he left the prison after only doing three years
- After prison he changed his name to O' Henry.
- He is mostly known for "The Ransom of Red Chief", which is in the collection Whirligigs.
- O Henry died of cirrhosis of the liver on June 5, 1910 in New York.
